Nairobi Content Creators Urge Government for Advertising Partnerships
Nairobi Content Creators Seek Government Support: A Proposal for Sustainable Income Nairobi, Kenya – Geoffrey Mosiria, Chief Environment Officer for Nairobi City County, has called for government intervention to support local content creators. Mosiria, in a recent video, highlighted the financial instability faced by many content creators and proposed a system where government ministries would partner with creators to advertise their services. "Let’s support content creators in a positive way," Mosiria stated in his video. He explained that this collaboration would not only provide a stable income for creators but also leverage their large reach to disseminate important public health messages. He cited the alarming rise in betting addiction among young people as an example, noting that many have tragically taken their own lives due to gambling debts. Mosiria's proposal suggests that government bodies could provide funding to content creators in exchange for advertising their initiatives. This approach would circumvent the high costs associated with traditional advertising methods such as print and television. He believes that this initiative would be particularly beneficial in reaching younger audiences who are more likely to engage with social media content. The proposal is currently under consideration, and discussions are ongoing with relevant government officials and stakeholders.
