Maldives Solo Traveler Recovers Phone After Dramatic Ocean Drop A solo traveler, Georgina Grigg, experienced a harrowing incident on her final night in the Maldives when her phone and tripod were swept into the sea from her overwater villa. Strong winds, a remnant of an afternoon storm, caused the equipment to tumble into the dark, rough waters. Grigg, who had set up her phone to record a video, initially panicked upon realizing her devices were lost. "My ring light's gone, my phone's gone," she recounted in a video detailing the event. Despite the challenging conditions, including the deep water and potential marine life, she quickly put on a life jacket and plunged into the ocean. After a frantic search, feeling around with her foot, Grigg miraculously located her phone on the sandy seabed. To her astonishment, upon retrieving it, she heard an Instagram notification, confirming the device was still fully functional. "I literally can't believe my luck," she stated, expressing immense relief. She added that her hair and makeup even remained intact. Following the successful recovery, Grigg put her dress back on and proceeded to enjoy her final dinner in the Maldives.
