Thousands in Niš to Receive Long-Overdue Wages
Niš, Serbia: Thousands of Workers to Receive Overdue Wages Niš, Serbia is witnessing a positive development in the ongoing struggle of former workers from 25 social enterprises to receive their overdue wages. Radiša Spasić, the initiator of the payment process, recently announced that a list of approximately 5,000 workers is nearing completion. This list represents the third group of workers to receive payments, following two earlier groups. The payment is expected to be finalized after a city council meeting scheduled for June 12th. "The finalization of this list is a major step toward resolving this long-standing issue," Spasić stated in a recent video update. "We anticipate that all remaining cases, including those of heirs, will be resolved by autumn." This initiative is particularly significant given that many workers have been waiting for years to receive their overdue wages. Approximately 2,000 workers have already received half of their owed earnings, and the upcoming payment will provide much-needed financial relief to thousands more. The successful resolution of this issue will serve as a positive example of how persistent advocacy can lead to tangible results for workers' rights.
