Electricity Bills to Drop This Month: NGCP Announces Transmission Charge Reduction
The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) recently announced a significant decrease in transmission charges for electricity bills this month. This reduction, impacting consumers nationwide, is expected to provide relief to households and businesses struggling with rising energy costs. The decrease, exceeding 43 centavos per kilowatt-hour, is attributed to a drop in transmission wheeling rates that took effect in April. "This adjustment reflects our commitment to providing stable and affordable electricity for all Filipinos," said a spokesperson for NGCP. The lower transmission charges are part of a broader effort to stabilize the power grid, particularly during periods of fluctuating supply and demand. In addition to the transmission charge reduction, ancillary service charges, which cover the costs of maintaining grid stability, have also been lowered. This dual reduction offers a double benefit to consumers. The NGCP's initiative underscores the importance of transparent and efficient energy management in ensuring affordable and reliable electricity access for all.
