Former Representative Arnolfo "Arnie" Teves Jr. Returned to Philippines, in Custody
Arnolfo "Arnie" Teves Jr., former representative of Negros Oriental's 3rd District, is back in the Philippines and in custody. Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla made the announcement on May 29, 2025, stating that Teves was being returned to face charges. A Philippine Air Force plane is expected to bring Teves to Villamor Airbase in Pasay City. Upon arrival, Teves will be processed by the NBI, undergoing a medical checkup and booking procedures before being placed in an NBI detention facility. Secretary Remulla emphasized that Teves's safety is a primary concern for the Department of Justice. The former representative will be immediately brought before the Manila Regional Trial Court for arraignment at the next hearing. This event marks a significant step in the ongoing legal proceedings against Teves, who has been absent from the country for an extended period. The successful return of Teves underscores the government's commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability for alleged offenses.
