PNP Chief Clarifies 'Increase Arrests' Directive: A Crackdown on All Crimes
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is stepping up its efforts to combat crime. New PNP Chief, Gen. Nicolas Torre III, recently issued a directive to increase arrests across the board. This directive, however, has been clarified to include all criminal activities, not just drug-related offenses. In an interview with RTV Malacañang, Gen. Torre III stated, "Hindi lang yan para sa drugs, okay? Para yan sa lahat ng criminality." He further emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity within the police force, promising that officers involved in planting evidence will be dismissed from service and face imprisonment. This decisive action aims to restore public trust and improve the effectiveness of law enforcement in the Philippines. The move signals a comprehensive approach to crime reduction and a commitment to transparency and accountability within the PNP.
