Philippines to Publicly Post Internet Speeds to Boost Competition
The Philippines is taking steps to improve its internet infrastructure. The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) announced a plan to publicly post internet speed data for all telecommunication companies. This move, according to DICT Secretary Henry Aguda, is designed to increase competition and force companies to improve their services. "We believe that transparency is key," Aguda stated in an interview. "By making this information public, we hope to create a more competitive market, leading to faster and more reliable internet for everyone." The data will be displayed on bulletin boards at DICT offices nationwide and will also be available on the DICT app. This initiative is a positive step towards bridging the digital divide in the Philippines and ensuring that Filipinos have access to high-speed internet.
