Quezon City Fire: Three Injured, Six Homes Lost
Quezon City Fire Leaves Three Injured, Six Homes Destroyed A fire ripped through Barangay Pansol in Quezon City on Monday, June 9, 2025, at approximately 2:30 PM, leaving three people injured and six homes destroyed. The blaze, which reached a second alarm, quickly spread through the densely populated residential area. According to GMA Integrated News, the fire was extinguished around 4:00 PM, but overhauling operations continued to prevent re-ignition. Mark John Enderez, a 26-year-old who was helping put out the fire, sustained minor injuries. "The heat was intense," he recounted, "I was hit on the head and suffered a cut." Bernadette Ricalde, a local resident, expressed concern about the possible cause, stating, "There were children playing in the back area; I warned them, but it seems someone was carelessly smoking a cigarette." The injured were transported to the hospital for treatment. While the exact cause remains under investigation, the possibility of a discarded cigarette igniting the easily flammable materials is being considered. The affected families are currently being housed in a temporary shelter at the barangay's multipurpose center.
