€111,000 Stolen from Elderly Woman in Navarra: Two Under Investigation
Navarra, Spain – In a case highlighting the vulnerability of elderly individuals, the Guardia Civil has investigated two people for allegedly misappropriating €111,000 from a 98-year-old woman. The investigation began after a social worker alerted authorities to the woman's precarious financial situation. The suspects, a 55-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman, both Spanish nationals residing in Navarra, reportedly used a power of attorney to access and transfer the victim's funds. "The investigation revealed a serious breach of fiduciary duty," stated a Guardia Civil spokesperson. "The suspects clearly benefited personally from the victim's assets." Thanks to collaboration with the Navarra Tax Agency, authorities were able to track the financial transactions and build a strong case against the suspects. The victim's assets are now under the protection of a public foundation, ensuring her financial security. This case underscores the importance of vigilance in protecting vulnerable members of society from financial exploitation.
