Belgrade's Pančevački Bridge: Crumbling Infrastructure and Delayed Repairs
Pančevački Bridge in Belgrade: A ticking time bomb? Belgrade, Serbia – The Pančevački Bridge, a vital artery connecting two parts of the city, is in a state of disrepair, raising serious safety concerns. Zoran Bukvić, from the citizens' association "Ulica za bicikliste", points to the alarming condition of the access ramps. "Pristupne rampe iz pravca grada su potpuno dotrajale, sa njih se bukvalno odvaljuju komadi betona," he stated, highlighting the danger posed by falling concrete. The situation is further exacerbated by the lack of maintenance, with 40 streetlights knocked down in the last two decades. While repairs were scheduled for this year, they've been postponed until 2027, adding to the growing frustration among citizens. Bukvić's concerns emphasize the urgent need for action to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all bridge users. The city authorities need to address this issue swiftly to avoid potential tragedies.
