FORAGING FOR FLAVOR: LOCAL WOMAN TRANSFORMS INVASIVE WEEDS INTO DELICIOUS ROLLS In a unique culinary endeavor, local resident Kat, known online as 'homesteadgremlin,' is demonstrating how to turn common invasive plants into savory delights. In a recent video, Kat showcased her method of foraging for wild edibles such as purple deadnettle, wild onion, garlic mustard, and ramp leaves, transforming them into what she describes as 'bomb rolls.' "I just picked this handful of weeds, I'm on my way home from work," Kat stated in her video, highlighting the accessibility of her ingredients. She meticulously prepared the foraged greens, chopping them and seasoning them with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. The mixture was then spread onto store-bought pizza dough, brushed with melted butter, and rolled into individual portions before being baked at 425 degrees Fahrenheit. The finished rolls, golden brown and aromatic, were met with enthusiasm. "They're really, really good," Kat affirmed after tasting one. She encouraged viewers to embrace foraging, noting, "Go out and eat some weeds, because this is good." Kat, who identifies as a 'garden enthusiast, small scale homesteader, and forager,' aims to inspire others to explore sustainable food practices and utilize readily available natural resources.
