BA Flight Costs 70 Times More Than Ryanair: Why?
British Airways' pricing strategy for short-haul flights is under scrutiny after travel correspondent Simon Calder highlighted a massive price difference between its fares and those of budget airline Ryanair. A one-way Ryanair flight from Edinburgh to London Stansted costs just £17, while a comparable British Airways flight can cost upwards of £1183. "Ryanair is currently selling its morning flight from the Scottish capital to Stansted for £17," Calder stated in a recent video. This price difference is not simply a matter of different service levels, Calder suggests. He points out that easyJet offers similar flights to Luton for £19 and Gatwick for £30. The stark contrast suggests that British Airways is prioritizing its long-haul business class fares, leaving short-haul flights to those willing to pay a premium. The video has sparked a debate about airline pricing and the impact on consumers.
