I Haven't Been the Same Since Touching Down on Oscar Isaac in Venice
Something shifted.
Venice, Italy - Actor Drew Starkey recently offered insights into the preparation for his role at a press conference held during the Venice Film Festival. Starkey highlighted the crucial role of movement rehearsals in fostering a deeper connection with his co-stars, particularly for intimate scenes within the film. "We jumped into movement rehearsals pretty early on," Starkey stated, explaining that this process was beneficial "not just in the intimate scenes but throughout the course of the movie." He elaborated that these rehearsals "really freed us up and freed our bodies up, and we felt open to try new things." Starkey specifically credited choreographers Paul and Saul (also referred to as Paul Lightfoot and Saul Leon by an off-camera voice) for their contributions, noting they "really opened doors for us." He then added a lighthearted remark about the unique bonding experience, saying, "When you're rolling around on the floor with someone the second day of knowing each other, I think that's a good way to get to know someone." His comments shed light on the collaborative and often unconventional methods employed in film production to achieve authentic performances.
