Rising Peer Violence Among Minors Alarms Montenegro
Podgorica, Montenegro – A disturbing trend of increasing peer-to-peer violence among minors is alarming authorities and social workers in Montenegro. The issue, highlighted in a recent video report, reveals a lack of preventative measures and support systems for affected children. Marko Maraš, a BSc Psychologist, points to a lack of family support as a key factor, stating, "One thing I would emphasize is the family environment, because we know that poor family relationships and neglect play a significant role in the development of delinquent behavior among young people." Kristina Mihailović from the Parents' Association adds, "When we talk about peer violence, we deal with the consequences. We are concerned with how to respond when violence occurs, and what mechanisms should exist. But much earlier, things are happening, and they happen over an exceptionally long period, mostly without any reaction."
