Kim Kardashian Robbery Trial: Paris Reopens Old Wounds
The Kim Kardashian Paris Robbery Trial: Nine Years Later Paris, France – Nine years after the highly publicized robbery of Kim Kardashian in Paris, the trial is finally underway. In October 2016, Kardashian was bound, threatened, and robbed at gunpoint in her luxury apartment. The thieves, known as the "grandpa robbers" due to their age, made off with an estimated eight million pounds worth of jewelry, including a four million pound engagement ring given to her by then-husband Kanye West. The trial has faced significant delays. ITV News reporter Rishi Davda explains, "It's taken a while to get to trial, for three different reasons: other high-profile cases in the French legal system, the Covid pandemic, and the defendants' release from jail." Twelve people were initially set to stand trial, but one has since died and another is too ill to attend. Of the remaining ten, two have admitted to their involvement, with one even writing a book titled "J'ai séquestré Kim Kardashian." These two downplayed their roles in the robbery, while the other eight remained largely silent until the trial began. Kardashian is currently testifying and has spoken about the impact of the robbery, including her fear for her life and the lasting effects it has had on her. The trial continues to garner significant attention, highlighting the long-lasting consequences of this high-profile crime and the complexities of the French legal system.
