Fugitive Suspect on Trial for Dog Walker's Murder

A man accused of murdering a dog walker in Brantham, Suffolk, on July 24, 2024, had been on the run from police for two years, a court has heard. Roy Barclay, 56, denies murdering 57-year-old mother-of-six Anita Rose. The prosecution presented CCTV footage placing Barclay in the area at the time of the attack. They also highlighted the discovery of Rose's distinctive pink jacket at Barclay's makeshift countryside camp, along with other items. "The injuries that Anita Rose sustained were consistent with those boots," a prosecutor stated. Barclay, who has no fixed address, denies the charges. The trial is expected to last six to eight weeks.
