A recent online video from creator Iván Háchez has shed light on the groundbreaking production techniques behind the Netflix miniseries 'Adolescencia' (Teenage). The series, notable for its ambitious single-sequence shot format, required innovative solutions from its production team to maintain the illusion of an unbroken take throughout each episode. Háchez detailed several key methods, including the use of a specialized camera rig mounted on a van, allowing for seamless transitions between driving scenes and interior shots. "They had to break their heads with several tricks," Háchez explained, referring to the crew's ingenuity. Another complex sequence involved the camera moving from an interior school setting, populated with 350 extras, to an exterior crime scene. This was achieved by attaching the camera to a drone in real-time, a "technical madness" according to the creator. The video also revealed how the driving scenes were filmed, with a modified van featuring a rooftop seat for a crew member to drive, while the actors performed inside, ensuring the continuous shot without visible cuts. These techniques underscore the evolving landscape of cinematic production and the creative lengths filmmakers go to achieve unique visual storytelling.
