Dominican Republic Safety Concerns Highlighted by Solo Female Traveler's Disturbing Experience A recent video posted by Jenna Huskey (@jennahuskey5) has brought attention to potential safety issues for solo female travelers in the Dominican Republic. Huskey, a 23-year-old from the US, documented her experience at the Oceans Blue And Sand resort, detailing several incidents that left her feeling deeply uneasy. "Yesterday I woke up at 1 in the morning to drive to the airport, and I have not fallen back asleep since," Huskey shared in her video, explaining her abrupt departure. She described a hotel employee who made her uncomfortable by suggesting they share a bed and later followed her to the beach, making unwanted advances. At the pool, another man approached her, repeatedly asking why she was alone and attempting to pull her into the water. Huskey stated, "I kicked him and said, 'Get off of me!'" These incidents, coupled with the lack of an inside lock on her hotel room door, led to her decision to leave the resort and return to the US, incurring a significant financial loss. Huskey's video serves as a cautionary tale, urging solo female travelers to prioritize safety and be aware of potential risks in unfamiliar environments. Her experience underscores the importance of choosing accommodations with adequate security measures and remaining vigilant throughout their travels.
