Urgent Scam Alert: Fake CEO Texts Target Employees
A new scam is targeting employees in the US. Victims receive text messages from fraudsters pretending to be their company's CEO. The scammers often misspell the recipient's name and request a call. One victim, Jordyn Slack, shared her experience: "I got a text message yesterday. It said, 'Hey Jordan,' and my name was misspelled...It was the name of the CEO at the place that I work. It said, 'We need to chat, please give me a call when you can.'" Slack's husband verified the number was fake. Authorities urge caution and advise against responding to such messages. Remember to always verify the identity of the person contacting you before sharing sensitive information.
