PCC Leader "Tuta" Captured After Five Years on the Run
Brazilian police, in collaboration with Bolivian authorities and Interpol, have apprehended Marcos Roberto de Almeida, also known as "Tuta," a prominent leader of the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) criminal organization. Tuta had been a fugitive for five years, evading capture while allegedly involved in drug trafficking, money laundering, and other criminal activities. His arrest in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, followed an investigation that utilized biometric data from the Brazilian Federal Police. "His capture represents a significant step in combating transnational crime," stated a source close to the investigation. Following his expulsion from Bolivia, Tuta was transferred to a maximum-security prison in Brasília, where he will face justice for his alleged crimes. The operation underscores the ongoing efforts to dismantle the PCC and highlights the challenges posed by transnational criminal networks.
