Local Police Officer Rescues Child from Drowning
A young police officer from Corabia, Olt County, became a hero on Sunday evening. Lucian Stamate, 25, was off-duty when he received a call about a child drowning in the Danube-Black Sea Canal near Medgidia, Constanța County. Without a moment's hesitation, he jumped into the water and rescued the 10-year-old child. "I didn't think twice," Stamate said in a brief interview after the event. "The child was struggling, and I had to act fast." Firefighters arrived shortly after and helped bring the child to safety. The child is now recovering and in stable condition.
