Former Priest-in-Training Details Journey to Atheism
In a recent interview, Chidera Ezenwa, known online as "the King of Gomorrah," shared his profound transformation from a Catholic seminary student to an atheist. Ezenwa, who joined the seminary at 11 and left at 24 after completing his philosophy degree, explained that his intellectual honesty led him to question fundamental religious doctrines. "The whole thing is full-time bullshit, doesn't make sense," Ezenwa stated, referring to religious teachings. He recounted instances where his logical questions to priests went unanswered. "I asked and I asked, they couldn't just be answered. The priest couldn't answer my questions." He described one incident where a priest closed his book and left the class after being pressed with a question. Ezenwa elaborated on the logical inconsistencies he found, particularly regarding prayer and divine will. "If God has a plan for you, and if everything happens according to God's will, why are you praying? Are you praying to change God's plan? Are you praying for God to change his will?" he questioned. He concluded that if God's will always prevails, prayer becomes redundant. He also addressed the issue of abuse within the Catholic Church, stating, "It is there in the history of the Catholic Church that priests do abuse children, and the church is always covering it up." Ezenwa emphasized that these historical facts further solidified his atheistic views.
