Kazakhstan: State Prosecutor Warns of Fake Social Media Accounts Spreading Misinformation Almaty, Kazakhstan – State prosecutor Dana Sarsembay has issued a public warning about fraudulent social media accounts impersonating her. The accounts, which proliferated following the death of Sherzat Polat, are using Sarsembay's image and professional title to deceive the public. "Citizens! I, Dana Sarsembay, am making this video because fake accounts are illegally using my name, position, and photo," Sarsembay stated in the video. She detailed several examples of the scams, including calls to subscribe to various bloggers, the distribution of fake surveys and links promising prizes, and the dissemination of false information related to the Polat case. Sarsembay stressed that her only official social media presence is on Instagram at @s.d.n__. She urged the public to avoid suspicious links and contests and to report any fake accounts. The prosecutor's warning highlights the growing problem of online impersonation and the spread of misinformation in Kazakhstan. Authorities are investigating the fraudulent accounts.
