Athens, Greece – Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis today announced a significant overhaul of Greece's National Health System (ESY), emphasizing improved accessibility for citizens seeking medical appointments. In a recent address, Mitsotakis highlighted the introduction of a new digital platform allowing Greeks to book free appointments with ESY doctors with unprecedented ease. "Did you know that for the first time in Greece, you can book a free appointment with an ESY doctor with one click?" Mitsotakis queried, outlining the new options available via finddoctors.gov.gr, the MyHealth app, or by calling the dedicated line 1566. The Prime Minister described this development as a "revolution" within the ESY, expressing considerable satisfaction with its initial implementation. "In the first two days of this bold initiative's application, over 100,000 appointments were booked, and more than 300,000 telephone calls were handled," he stated, underscoring the immediate public engagement. He further elaborated on the expansion of the system, noting, "Now that we have added hospitals, we have gone from 3 million available appointments to 10 million available appointments." Mitsotakis acknowledged that some citizens might encounter initial difficulties but assured them, "A little bit of your patience. Very soon the system will roll out completely." He concluded by reiterating the core message: "The ESY is changing!" These reforms aim to streamline healthcare access and enhance the efficiency of public health services across the nation.
