Budapest Pride, 200 mila partecipanti: la reazione di Orban
Secondo gli organizzatori, quasi 200.000 persone hanno sfilato per le strade di Budapest in occasione del Pride, registrando un’affluenza
Budapest, Hungary – Elly Schlein, secretary of Italy's Democratic Party, participated in the Budapest Pride event, delivering a powerful message against discrimination and in defense of LGBTQIA+ rights. Speaking to reporters amidst a large crowd, Schlein emphasized the fundamental nature of love and human rights, stating, "It is a sign that love cannot be forbidden by law. You cannot cancel our bodies because they exist, because we are people, because we have rights that are fundamental rights." Schlein condemned institutional discrimination, asserting that it is unacceptable within the European Union. "To forbid Pride means institutional discrimination, it is not acceptable in the European Union, where if you attack the rights of one person, you are attacking the rights of everyone," she declared. She highlighted the importance of showing solidarity with Hungarians and the LGBTQIA+ community, noting that this community is currently under attack not only in Hungary but across Europe. Addressing Italy's own progress, Schlein remarked that the country "continues to slide to the bottom of the rankings." She pointed out the absence of a law against homophobia, lesbophobia, and transphobia, which she stated the current right-wing government has "sunk amid laughter and applause." Schlein also called for equal marriage and the recognition of children of same-sex couples. Her presence and statements underscored the broader European struggle for equality and human rights.
