The lawyer detailed a case where a client, seeking early retirement at 60 under a special regime, consulted ChatGPT for an estimate of their pension. The AI allegedly advised the client that no percentage would be discounted from their pension, suggesting an amount around 800 euros. Based on this, the client proceeded with the application. However, the official resolution from social security resulted in a pension of only 200 euros, representing just 25% of their regulatory base. The lawyer confirmed that the social security department applied the law correctly, indicating that ChatGPT's information was fundamentally flawed. In a separate example, the lawyer demonstrated how ChatGPT initially provided incorrect information regarding the deadline for claiming unfair dismissal in Spain, stating 20 working days and that a conciliation paper would always suspend the deadline. He later showed that a more refined query to ChatGPT yielded a more accurate response, clarifying that the suspension is only for 15 working days and the deadline does not restart. 'ChatGPT is not a lawyer; it invents things,' the lawyer stated, emphasizing that the AI often 'hallucinates' information and requires detailed, precise prompts to even offer potentially useful, albeit still unreliable, guidance. He urged the public to always consult a professional for legal matters, particularly those affecting their future, such as pensions or employment rights.
