Toulouse Metro Closure: One Year of Inconvenience for Commuters
Toulouse Metro Station Closure Causes Commuters Inconvenience Toulouse, France – Commuters in Toulouse are facing a significant disruption due to the closure of the Marengo metro station. The station, a key link between the city's metro system and the SNCF train station, has been closed for a year due to extensive renovations. This closure is causing significant delays for thousands of daily commuters. "It usually takes me less than two minutes to walk from the Marengo metro station to the train station," explains Geoffrey Priol, a journalist for La Dépêche du Midi, in a recent video report. "Now, it's taking me ten minutes." The video shows commuters navigating the detour in the rain, illustrating the inconvenience. Julien Isnard, deputy project manager of the Line C - Tisséo Ingénierie, explains that the renovations require significant civil engineering work, making the closure necessary. The project aims to improve connectivity between metro lines A and C. To mitigate the disruption, a free shuttle bus service, "Access," has been implemented. The bus runs every 15 minutes from 7 am to 10:30 pm on Fridays and Sundays. However, commuters still express frustration over the added travel time and inconvenience. One student described the extended walk in the rain as "a bit annoying." Despite the challenges, the renovations promise a significant improvement in the city's transport infrastructure. The new connection between metro lines A and C will create a more efficient and accessible transport network for Toulouse residents and visitors.
