A young Venezuelan mother, Andreína Farías Torres, was found murdered in her San Bartolo apartment on May 13, 2025. The Peruvian National Police (PNP) confirmed that she was sexually assaulted before her death. Two internet technicians from Claro, who had been at her apartment for over 10 hours earlier that day installing internet service, are considered suspects. Rubén Darío Cueva, one of the technicians, has been arrested. According to Cueva's testimony, he and his colleague, Jean Carlos Montero Huaylinos, were at the victim's apartment consuming alcohol. Around 11:00 p.m., Cueva discovered Montero adjusting his pants while the victim lay dead in the bed. Cueva attempted to intervene but was also assaulted. Montero Huaylinos is currently at large in the Jauja province. Provincial prosecutor Humberto Durán Ponce de León is leading the investigation. Forensic examinations are underway, and statements are being taken from family members and witnesses. The incident highlights the dangers faced by vulnerable populations and underscores the importance of swift and thorough investigations into violent crimes.
