

Massive Explosion Rocks Mexican Diesel Plant: One Injured, Eleven Evacuated
A large fire engulfed a diesel distillation plant in Cadereyta, Nuevo León, Mexico, on May 22, 2025, around 2 PM. The explosion resulted in one injury, with eleven workers safely evacuated. Footage shows a massive plume of black smoke and intense flames. According to Protección Civil, thirteen containers, each holding more than 10,000 liters of fuel, were consumed. "The fire was significant," stated a spokesperson for Protección Civil, "but we were able to quickly contain it and prevent further injuries." By 5 PM, firefighters and emergency personnel were still working to extinguish the remaining flames. The plant, located on kilometer 48 of the Carretera a Reynosa, sustained significant damage. The swift response and evacuation efforts prevented a larger tragedy.
