
Massacre at Irapuato Festival: 10 Dead, 12 Injured in Guanajuato Attack
IRAPUATO, GUANAJUATO – A patron saint festival in Irapuato, Guanajuato, was tragically interrupted by a deadly attack on June 25, 2025, resulting in the deaths of 10 people and leaving at least 12 injured. The incident occurred inside a house on Bustamante Street in the Barrio Nuevo neighborhood. Preliminary reports from the Municipal Government and Public Administration indicate that armed individuals stormed the gathering, opening fire on attendees. Footage from the event captures the festive atmosphere abruptly giving way to the sound of gunshots and screams, as partygoers scatter in panic. Among those present was reportedly a child of approximately two years old. Following the attack, elements of the Citizen Security Secretariat, the Defense Ministry, the National Guard, and the State Public Security Force (FSPE) launched a joint operation. Authorities confirmed that they are actively working in coordination with the Prosecutor's Office to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. As of now, no arrests have been made. This incident marks the 14th massacre in Guanajuato so far in 2025, and it is the deadliest in terms of fatalities. Just days prior, on Monday, armed men killed four family members inside their home in Celaya, highlighting a concerning pattern of violence in the region.
