
Irapuato Massacre: Conflicting Victim Counts Amid Ongoing Investigation
IRAPUATO, Guanajuato – Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the number of victims in a recent massacre in Irapuato. While municipal authorities initially stated 12 individuals lost their lives, the State Prosecutor's Office has reported 11 fatalities and 20 injured. The deceased include eight men, a 17-year-old minor, and two women. All injured individuals have been transferred to various hospitals in the region for medical attention. The incident occurred during a private party held on the night of June 24th in the Barrio Nuevo neighborhood. Armed assailants reportedly entered the premises and opened fire on the attendees. Luis Ricardo Benavides, the Secretary of Public Security of Irapuato, confirmed the private nature of the event and stated that further details could not be disclosed to avoid hindering the ongoing investigation. Authorities have pledged to dedicate all necessary resources to clarify the facts and identify those responsible for the tragic attack.
