A Coruña, Spain – The Mostra de Cine Periférico film festival recently held a unique event to engage a younger generation with the magic of cinema. The festival used Super 8 film and cameras, celebrating the format's 60th anniversary, to give children a hands-on experience of analog filmmaking. The event organizers felt a need to create a new audience for cinema, one that appreciates the art of filmmaking in a tangible way. "It's necessary to return those sensations that we all had in our childhood," said one of the organizers, highlighting the nostalgic and engaging nature of Super 8 film. Children were interviewed and expressed their surprise and delight at experiencing the older technology.
