A Belarusian woman, Elena Platonova, has made a public appeal to the Prosecutor General, alleging negligence in the handling of her father's death at a Sluzk hospital. Platonova claims her father died from a hospital-acquired infection (HAI) that was not properly addressed. "The hospital failed to register the case as required by law," she states in her video. This omission, she argues, violated several articles of the Belarusian healthcare law, including those concerning patient safety and notification of legal representatives. Platonova's video, which has garnered significant views and shares, details laboratory results showing the presence of a multi-drug-resistant bacteria. She further contends that the hospital's inadequate response to the HAI created a risk of infection for other patients and staff. The Prosecutor General's office has not yet commented on Platonova's allegations. This case highlights concerns about HAI management and patient safety in Belarusian hospitals.
