Kenyan Opposition's Grave Accusations Against Safaricom and Ruto's Administration
Kenyan Opposition Accuses Safaricom of Collaboration in Abductions, Condemns Priest Murders Nairobi, Kenya – Kenyan opposition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa delivered a scathing press conference on May 27, 2025, accusing Safaricom, a major telecommunications company, of complicity in the government's alleged surveillance and abduction of political opponents. The leaders expressed grave concern over what they described as a "heightened descent" into repression and lawlessness. The press conference followed the recent abduction of Member of Parliament George Koimburi, who was later found tortured and abandoned. "The horrifying incident is not isolated," stated Musyoka, "it's part of a chilling trend where elected leaders and citizens are being systematically targeted to silence dissent." Wamalwa added, "This use of disproportionate force on unarmed civilians is unlawful and represents a dangerous erosion of the right to assemble." The opposition also condemned the murders of two Catholic priests, Father John Minor and Father Alois Cheriod Bett, who had recently hosted the Second Deputy President. The opposition called for a thorough investigation and accountability for all those involved in these alleged human rights violations. The accusations against Safaricom and the government are serious and warrant further investigation.
