Election Fraud Allegations Rock Romanian Presidential Race
Romanian Presidential Candidate Accuses Moldova of Election Fraud The second round of Romanian presidential elections has been marred by controversy after Georgi Simion, a prominent candidate, accused Moldova's authorities of orchestrating widespread election fraud. Simion alleges that Moldovan citizens were illegally transported to polling stations to influence the vote. He made this claim in a Facebook post, which has since been removed. The post included a photo of Simion with Traian Băsescu and Nicușor Dan, further emphasizing the political weight of the accusations. "I call on Maia Sandu to stop electoral tourism from the Republic of Moldova," Simion stated in the post. "We must work for [European Union flags] after May 18; fraud is not a European value!"
