Minsk Hosts Exhibition Showcasing WWII Partisan Ingenuity Minsk, Belarus – An exhibition in Minsk is currently showcasing the remarkable resourcefulness of Belarusian partisans during World War II. The display, part of the 80th anniversary commemorations of Victory Day, features a unique collection of homemade weapons crafted by the partisans from salvaged materials. Svetlana Pribyls, Deputy Chief Curator of the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War, gave an interview at the exhibition. "In the early stages of the partisan movement," she explained, "our fighters lacked weapons, so they began repairing existing ones and finding parts on the battlefields." She went on to describe the ingenuity of the partisans, who utilized materials like "aluminum from downed German planes and bicycle frames" to create their weapons. The exhibition includes examples of these self-made weapons, offering a rare insight into the conditions and challenges faced by the Belarusian resistance.
