Salt Lake City, UT – Local artist Grace Pool has once again captivated judges at the Utah State Fair, showcasing a diverse array of handcrafted stained glass and intricate embroidery pieces. Pool, known for her unique and self-designed patterns, entered several works in both the 2023 and 2024 fairs, earning multiple blue ribbons for her artistry. Among her notable entries were a three-dimensional coral reef shark embroidery, a stunning stained glass whale featuring iridescent glass, and a remarkably lifelike 3D Luna moth embroidery with wire-edged wings. Other pieces included an elegant stained glass olive branch and a delicate hand-embroidered Sego Lily, Utah's state flower, alongside a charming beehive design. Pool noted the increasing competitiveness of the fair in recent years. "They've made it much more competitive this year; they got rid of a ton of categories, which I think is going to make it harder to win and therefore more competitive and therefore more fun," she stated. Despite the heightened competition, her dedication to her craft and original designs continues to shine through. Her work, which she meticulously designs on an ancient iPad, reflects a deep passion for art and a commitment to unique expression.
