Perak's "Bawang Perak" Initiative: 140 Metric Tons of Shallots Targeted

Gopeng, Perak, Malaysia – The Perak state government has announced ambitious plans to significantly boost local shallot production. Targeting an output of 140 metric tons this year, the initiative, known as "Bawang Perak," is expanding beyond its initial location in Batang Padang district. "We are expanding to Kuala Kangsar, Muallim, and Perak Tengah districts," stated Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad. The selection of these districts is based on their suitability for shallot cultivation, ensuring optimal yields. The project's success will contribute to Perak's agricultural sector and reduce reliance on imported shallots. This initiative underscores the state government's commitment to food security and local economic growth.
