Perak Supports Amendments to Strengthen Child Protection Laws
Teluk Intan, Perak – Perak is supporting proposed amendments to strengthen the Child Neglect Act. Datuk Salbiah Mohamed, the state’s Exco for Women, Family, and Community Welfare, says the current laws have loopholes. "There are cases of parental neglect where we can’t take action due to these gaps," she stated. The proposed changes aim to clarify parental responsibilities, addressing societal and cultural realities. The Exco also highlighted concerns about actions taken in other countries against parents for religious upbringing, emphasizing the need for a balanced approach in Malaysia. These amendments are a positive step towards protecting children and ensuring their well-being.
