Fire Safety Crisis: Thousands of Malaysian Businesses Lack Essential Certificates
**Only 62.2% of Malaysian Premises Hold Valid Fire Certificates** Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia – A recent report reveals a concerning statistic regarding fire safety compliance in Malaysia. According to Datuk Ir Ahmad Izram Osman, Deputy Director-General (Operations) of the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM), only 62.2% of the 9,321 premises inspected by March 2025 possessed valid Fire Certificates (FCs). This represents a significant shortfall in fire safety measures across the country. "This means there are still many premises that need to be dealt with appropriately so that all concerned premises obtain FCs," stated Datuk Ir Ahmad Izram Osman during a press conference held on June 4, 2025 at Hotel Kinta Riverfront, Ipoh. The JBPM is actively working to address this issue and ensure greater compliance with fire safety regulations. The report highlights the importance of fire safety and the potential risks associated with non-compliance. The JBPM's efforts to improve compliance are crucial for protecting lives and property. The remaining six months of 2025 will be dedicated to ensuring all premises meet the required standards. The JBPM's commitment to fire safety is commendable, and their proactive approach to addressing this issue is a positive step towards improving public safety in Malaysia.
