
15 Dead in Horrific Malaysian Bus Crash
A devastating bus accident occurred on June 9, 2025, on the East-West Highway near Tasik Banding, Perak, Malaysia. More than 15 students from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) were among the passengers. The bus overturned, resulting in significant damage and casualties. Images circulating on social media show the bus on its side, with debris scattered across the road. A Perodua Alza was also involved in the accident. Datuk Nor Hisham Mohamad, the director-general of the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM), confirmed that 14 UPSI students and a bus attendant lost their lives in the crash. Rescue crews worked through the night to free six passengers who were trapped inside the wreckage.
