
15 University Students Killed in Tragic Malaysian Bus Crash
IPOH, Perak – Fifteen students from the Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI) tragically lost their lives in a bus accident on Monday along Kilometer 53 of the East-West Highway near Tasik Banding, Gerik. Perak Police Chief, Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin, stated that 18 individuals have provided statements to assist in the investigation. These include 13 UPSI students, a couple in a Perodua Alza MPV, a forensic doctor from Gerik Hospital, and the owner of dashcam footage. However, the bus driver, currently receiving treatment at Taiping Hospital, has not yet been interviewed. The investigation is ongoing and involves several agencies, including the Forensic Department and the Fire and Rescue Department. Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin appealed for patience and understanding while the investigation unfolds, emphasizing the need to avoid speculation that could hinder the process. "We are working diligently to uncover the cause of this tragedy and bring closure to the families of the victims," he said.
