Andorra: Five Summer Scams to Watch Out For Andorran residents are being warned about a surge in online scams this summer. Cybersecurity expert María Aperador, known for her work in digital crime prevention, highlights five key threats in a recent video. These include deepfakes (AI-manipulated videos or audios), face swap (where one person's face is superimposed onto another's), phishing (impersonating legitimate companies to steal data), infostealers (viruses that steal passwords and banking information), and spoofing (falsifying phone numbers or email addresses). Aperador uses real-world examples in her video, showing how scammers use these techniques. "The phishing scams are particularly concerning," she says, "because they often look incredibly realistic and can trick even the most cautious users." She also warns about the rise of deepfakes, which can be used to spread misinformation and damage reputations. Aperador is developing an app called Bevalk to combat these threats. The app is expected to launch next month and already has over 6,000 people on its waiting list. This demonstrates a growing public awareness of online security risks and a demand for better protection.
