Andorra, August 23, 2025. A new sophisticated phone scam is targeting clients of major banks, including CaixaBank and Santander, according to cybersecurity expert María Aperador. The fraud involves callers impersonating bank managers who offer a line of credit. If the customer declines, the scammer proposes a 'credit simulation,' requesting sensitive personal information such as national identification numbers, account details, and even passwords. Ms. Aperador warns that providing this information grants fraudsters access to personal finances. She advises anyone receiving such a call to immediately hang up and contact their bank directly through official channels to verify the legitimacy of the inquiry. 'It is crucial never to disclose personal data, especially passwords, over the phone,' stated Aperador. This warning comes as authorities continue to combat evolving cyber threats aimed at manipulating public trust in financial institutions.
