Canicule : pourquoi il ne faut jamais faire le plein d’essence en période de fo…
Faire le plein de carburant sous 35°C peut avoir des conséquences bien plus graves qu’on ne l’imagine. Voici pourquoi c’est déconseillé.
As temperatures rise, a common daily task like refueling your car might be costing you more than you think, and even posing a safety risk. According to recent insights from a popular online video, the timing of your fuel-up can significantly impact the amount of fuel you receive and the safety of your vehicle. The core issue lies in fuel density and expansion. Fuel, like most liquids, expands when heated and contracts when cooled. This means that during the hottest parts of the day, the fuel in the underground tanks at gas stations is less dense. While pumps are calibrated, filling up when the fuel is cooler, such as early in the morning or late at night, means you are getting a denser product, effectively more fuel for the same price. Beyond cost efficiency, there's a safety concern. When fuel from cooler underground tanks is transferred to a vehicle's tank on a hot day, it undergoes a rapid temperature increase. This can cause the fuel to expand significantly. Overfilling your tank in such conditions can lead to spillage, which not only damages your car's paint but also creates a fire hazard. Experts advise against filling the tank to the brim during heatwaves to allow for this expansion.
