AMHERST, MA – The University of Massachusetts Amherst continues to elevate its dining program, which has held the top spot nationally for seven consecutive years, with the introduction of The Commonwealth Restaurant. Located within the Worcester Dining Commons, this new establishment offers an upscale dining experience previously uncommon in a university setting. The restaurant, situated on the third floor, provides seating for up to 46 guests and features a full bar, offering patrons a sophisticated ambiance with views overlooking the UMass Amherst campus. Its menu is designed to change seasonally, presenting a variety of dishes crafted with fresh ingredients. Among the highlighted offerings are small plates such as fried garlic and herb cheese curds, served alongside roasted Brussels sprouts on a bed of tomato confit sauce. For those seeking handheld options, the vegetarian cemita sandwich, featuring breaded mushrooms, spicy guacamole, and fresh cilantro, has been noted as a popular choice. Complementing the culinary selections, The Commonwealth also provides a range of beverages, including an autumn spritz mocktail and a locally sourced hot malt apple cider. This initiative aims to further enhance the university's commitment to providing exceptional dining experiences for its students and the wider UMass community.
