Second Arrest Made in Brutal Bronx Attack on Off-Duty NYPD Officer
Bronx Police Brutality: Second Suspect Arrested in Attack on Off-Duty Officer A brutal attack on an off-duty NYPD officer in the Bronx last Saturday has led to the arrest of a second suspect. Wayne Lucas, 22, was identified and apprehended following the arrest of his accomplice, Steven Hengrove, 23, in Virginia earlier this week. The attack, captured on video, shows the suspects using a knife to stab the officer in the neck and then punching him repeatedly in the face before stealing his Glock 19 service weapon and other personal items. The officer sustained multiple facial fractures. "Both suspects immobilized the officer," stated a law enforcement source. "They were very violent and left the officer with serious injuries." Hengrove, who has a lengthy criminal record, was arrested with the victim's credit card. His father was also detained for allegedly using the stolen credit card. The incident occurred on Saint Peters Avenue in Westchester Square in the Bronx. The swift apprehension of both suspects underscores the NYPD's commitment to bringing those responsible for violent crimes to justice, offering a degree of reassurance to the community.
