Crypto Boss Arrested, Accused of Torturing Tourist for Bitcoin
NEW YORK, USA - A cryptocurrency investor, John Woeltz, 37, was arrested on Friday night in Manhattan and charged with the kidnapping and torture of an Italian tourist. The victim, whose identity is being withheld, was held captive for several weeks in an eight-bedroom townhouse, where he was subjected to horrific abuse. Prosecutors say Woeltz repeatedly beat and tased the victim, even dangling him from a five-story stairwell. The victim was also threatened with a chainsaw. "He was terrified," a law enforcement source stated. "He thought his family would be harmed if he didn't give up his Bitcoin password." Woeltz, who is reportedly worth £73 million, is charged with kidnapping, assault, unlawful imprisonment, and criminal possession of a firearm. The victim escaped and flagged down a police officer. This case highlights the dangers lurking within the cryptocurrency world and serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of criminal activity.
