Austin, TX – A recent incident on a popular Austin trail has raised concerns about public safety after a local woman shared her unsettling experience of being stalked during a walk. Michaela Diehl, along with a friend, was attempting the 10-mile loop around Town Lake when they noticed a man repeatedly appearing behind them and seemingly tracking their movements. According to Diehl, the man first approached them after overhearing a quiet conversation about directions. "He immediately chimes into our conversation and is also like directly behind us," Diehl stated in her account. The women initially dismissed it but grew increasingly uneasy as the man continued to surface, even after they stopped for several minutes to allow him to pass. Diehl recounted, "keep in mind this man was not stopping at all unless we stopped or if he lost us, it was literally to stay around us." The situation escalated when the man, who appeared to be in his mid-30s, began to feign a leg injury, holding his leg as he walked slowly in front of them. The women then resorted to running to create distance, but the man was observed running quickly to catch up. "We were genuinely running for our lives a little bit," Diehl expressed, highlighting the fear they felt in a remote section of the trail. The incident concluded without physical harm, but Diehl emphasized the importance of vigilance. "Just be safe and be aware on the trails and don't tell anyone anything," she advised, urging individuals to carry some form of protection and consider walking with others, especially in secluded areas. Authorities have not yet commented on the specific incident.
