A Delta passenger traveling with her service dog says a male staff member touched her mid-flight, sparking viral outrage online.
A distressing incident involving alleged discrimination and physical assault by Delta Airlines staff has come to light, as a young woman shared her traumatic experience. The passenger, who travels with a trained service dog, claims the ordeal began at check-in when a Delta employee, identified as Olga, refused to check her service dog's essential items for free, despite the airline's policy. The passenger presented Delta's policy on her phone, which explicitly states that service animals' assistive devices and essential items are exempt from baggage fees. Olga reportedly snatched the phone and refused to read the policy, prompting a supervisor to intervene. After reluctantly checking the bag, which resulted in some items breaking, the employee allegedly continued to seek issues. The situation escalated during a flight from JFK to Geneva. While the passenger was attempting to rest in an empty row with her service dog on her lap, a female flight attendant insisted the dog must be on the floor, contradicting Delta's policy which allows service dogs on laps if size permits and they are not disruptive. Subsequently, a male flight attendant allegedly approached the passenger and physically 'jabbed' her multiple times while she was in and out of sleep. The passenger described the interaction as 'aggressive, unnecessary, and obviously him taking out his anger on me physically,' leaving her in 'complete shock.' She noted that she felt 'powerless' and unable to react due to fear of repercussions. The passenger, who has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and a history of trauma, stated the physical contact was particularly triggering and resulted in deep bruising on her shoulder. She has attempted to contact Delta Airlines with the names of the employees involved but has received no response.
